Key road near Dorchester shut due to serious crash

POLICE have closed a key road near Dorchester following a serious car crash that took place last night (October 21).

A road closure is in place between on the A35 Dorchester Road near Askerswell Monkeys Jump Roundabout in Dorchester and the East Road Roundabout in Bridport.

It was first put in place at around 1am last night.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.

National Highways said the road is expected to return to normal by 11am today.

A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “We are currently responding to a serious road traffic collision on the A35 Dorchester Road near Askerswell.

“A road closure is in place between Monkeys Jump Roundabout in Dorchester and East Road Roundabout in Bridport. Motorists are urged to avoid the area.”
