A CHARITY effort to send Christmas presents to children around the world is underway.
Blandford based company Total Energy Services sends hundreds of boxes of gifts to young people around the globe as part of the Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child appeal – and they are accepting donations for 2025.
Organised by Holly Lamb, the shoebox appeal has taken place for six years now and has seen the campaign grow and bring joy to more than 500 children since 2019.
“Now more than ever have the desperate plights of those in need have been bought to our attention,” a spokesperson said.
“Many of the shoeboxes will go to displaced children around the world who will be able to find comfort in their box of treasures in what should be a joyous time of the year for every child.”
Gift ideas include:
• Toys – stuffed animals, dolls, slinky, toy cars, trucks, boats, musical items, small balls, interactive toys, plastic figures, dinosaurs, play doh and hair clips.
• Hygiene items – hairbrush, flannel, toothbrush, soap, and hair bands.
• Educational: pencils, notepads, pencil case, stampers, coloured pencils, and paint sets.
• Clothing: hats, gloves, mittens, leggings, socks, and tops.
People are asked not to donate toothpaste, lotions, liquids, food or war-related items.
Donors also don’t need to provide shoeboxes, as organisers will pack and send on their behalf.
Items can be dropped off at Total Energy Solutions, Unit 1, Uplands Way, Blandford, DT11 7UZ. The deadline for donations is October 31.
