Horse rescued after being stuck ‘up to its neck’ in river

A HORSE stuck ‘with water up to its neck’ was rescued from a Dorset river.

The animal was reported after being found stuck in the river at Hains Lane, Marnhull, at around 11.39am on Sunday (August 27).

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) said a technical crew from Weymouth was sent to the scene, alongside a support crew from Shaftesbury.

“The Technical Rescue team entered the water with the horse, helping it from it’s stuck position then using food to lure it along the river to a suitable exit point,” a DWFRS spokesperson said.

“The horse is now safe and recovering in a stable with it’s owner and a vet providing care.”
