Gillingham nursery celebrating ‘good’ Ofsted report

A GILLINGHAM nursery is celebrating after a “fantastic” Ofsted report saw them handed a ‘good’ rating by inspectors.

Tops Gillingham, at Middlefield House, in Marlott Road, received the ranking after a recent visit by inspectors.

And the report highlighted a number of positives.

“Warm and friendly staff greet children and parents as they arrive,” it said. “Children quickly settle and are eager to explore the thoughtfully planned activities staff provide.

“Children form strong relationships with staff and demonstrate they feel safe and secure in their environment. For example, babies giggle and smile as they eat morning snack together.”

The report also noted how “children have excellent knowledge of how to keep themselves healthy”.

“For example, older children talk about which foods are good for them and what sugar does to their teeth,” it went on.

“Staff teach children about oral hygiene and support children to brush their teeth every day. Staff encourage children to be active throughout the day and help them understand the effect of exercise on their bodies.”

The inspector noted how children are encouraged to be “very independent”, while staff work closely with parents to support children to become toilet trained.

“Parents speak very positively about the range of activities staff provide and the good progress their children make,” the report said.

“They comment on staff being friendly and approachable. Parents appreciate the advice, guidance and resources staff provide to help them support children’s learning at home.

“Staff have good relationships with local schools and work closely with them and parents to ensure children have a successful transition to school.”

Natasha Holgate, manager at Tops Gillingham, said: “I couldn’t be happier about our fantastic Ofsted report. I’m incredibly proud of our team for their ongoing hard work in giving the best care to the children in our nursery.

“Their dedication ensures that every child receives exceptional care and attention. Together, we’re creating a nurturing space where all children can grow and succeed.”

Tops Day Nurseries runs more than 30 nurseries across the south and south west.

Tops Gillingham also offer a Hi5 holiday club for children up to the age of eight.
