Generous shoppers boost Blackmore Vale Lions Club charity coffers

THE Blackmore Vale Lions Club (BVLC) charity fund got a festive boost thanks to collections over Christmas.

The group has thanked the people of the Vale for their generosity, giving to the fund through collections at supermarkets and farm shop throughout the festive season.

“Through the haze of getting ready for Christmas you may have noticed collectors with buckets and card readers from the BVLC outside supermarkets and farm shops in the lead up to Christmas,” a spokesperson said.

“Thanks to the generosity of the people of Blackmore Vale BVLC will be able to put circa £770 into its charity funds.

“Local people have dug deep in times of hardship and been generous to a fault.

“In return, BVLC promises it will distribute those pounds and pennies wisely to needy and deserving people and groups.”

The group thanked the Co-Op in Sturminster Newton; Sherborne Waitrose and Sainsbury’s; Morrisons Wincanton; and The Udder Farm Shop in East Stour.

Next, the BVLC will be at Wincanton Races on January 18 and organising the Blackmore Vale Half Marathon on Sunday, February 4, at 11am, starting and finishing at Bishop’s Caundle.
