Free Musical Memories Concert set to take place in Gillingham

ST Mary’s Church in Gillingham will be alive with the sound of music at a concert this month.

The Musical Memories Concert, on Saturday, November 18, is an evening with the Top Brass & Wind Concert Band joined by vocalists Arabella Heaton and Ruth Jenkins.

It will also feature The South Somerset Good Afternoon Choir, led by Ruth Jenkins.

The concert is being organised by Dementia Friendly Gillingham, with the music and programme for the evening carefully produced with thanks to Jackie Adams, band leader, who will be considering our thoughts and emotions in the varied selection of music.

“The music of the band, the voices of Arabella and Ruth, and the Good Afternoon Choir, will leave you wishing there was more, just as the last concert did in April, but this concert offers you just that little bit extra,” a spokesperson said.

“The organisers feel that beautiful music should be free for all, and that’s why admission is free, but there will be a retiring collection which will be in aid of Dementia Friendly Gillingham, enabling them to continue their work in the community and the surrounding areas.”

The concert gets underway at 6.30pm and will feature interval drinks and a raffle.
