Fly-tipping van seized in North Dorset

A VAN used to dump waste across North Dorset has been seized by police.

Dorset Police’s Rural Crime Team located a van at the weekend (October 26) after reports it had been fly-tipping waste across the county.

Following an investigation, the van was seized and the driver was found to not have a valid driving licence.

“Our team works closely with Dorset Council’s waste enforcement team sharing information on those involved in waste offences in Dorset,” said a spokesperson for the Rural Crime Team.

“Officers from the team pro-actively targeted the van pictured following reports of it being used in fly-tipping. We located and stopped the van travelling in rural North Dorset.

“The driver was found to be driving with an expired licence, and without valid third party insurance, so was reported accordingly.

“The van was seized under section 34b of the Environmental Protection Act, and will now be passed into the care of Dorset Council while they progress their investigation.

“Our team will continue to pro-actively target and seize the vehicles of those who choose to fly-tip in Dorset.”
