Flooding closes parts of Dorchester hospital’s emergency department

PARTS of the emergency department at Dorset County Hospital were closed after flooding.

On Thursday night into Friday, an internal leak caused the department to flood, with parts remaining closed over the weekend.

A spokesperson for the Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust said: “We are working very hard to repair and clean areas of our Emergency Department (ED) that were affected by (Thursday) night’s flood, which was caused by an internal leak.

“While parts of (the emergency department) will remain closed over the weekend, other areas of the hospital will be used to make sure the department can continue to operate normally.”

People were encouraged to make sure they were using the correct department if attending the hospital as work to repair the damage was carried out.
