Flood alert issued for Upper Stour area

THE Environment Agency has issued a flood alert for areas of North Dorset due to overnight rising river levels.

Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the Upper Dorset Stour and Shreen Water tributaries between Gillingham and Sturminster Newton.

Weather conditions are expected to improve throughout the day today; however, another spell of rain is expected tomorrow afternoon (Wednesday) into Thursday which may see river levels rise again.

The situation is closely monitoring and people are advised to avoid walking, cycling or driving through floodwater.

Further information is available from the Environment Agency website.
