Fine period furniture up for grabs at Clarkes

Clarke’s Auctions at Semley will be holding their first sale of 2022 on Friday 11 and Saturday 12 February and already consigned are some fine examples of period furniture to include a late Regency mahogany breakfront bookcase in the manner of Gillows. Gillows of Lancaster and London and later Gillow and Co were founded around 1730 and were renowned for their quality and workmanship and by the mid 18th century they were one of the leading cabinetmakers in England. This carries an estimate of £300-£500. From the same source is a William IV mahogany open bookcase, a good quality Victorian mahogany combination wardrobe, a continental walnut farmhouse kitchen table, a set of eight French limed beech dining chairs, a George III mahogany ‘D’ end dining table extending to approximately nine feet, a George II Welsh coffer bach, and a pair of 19th century French restoration upholstered fauteuil chairs.

They are still taking entries for their Classic Vehicles and Automobilia sale being held in March.  Already consigned is a collection of restoration projects from a deceased estate including a pre-war Alvis TA saloon, a Vauxhall Cavalier Mk1 coupe, an Alvis TD21, and an Austin 1100 and in the Automobilia section is a private collection of 1:18 scale F1 models cars.  For enquiries for consignment into either of these sales, or for any Probate or Insurance Valuations, please phone either Richard Clarke or Karen Marshall on 01747 855109 at the main offices on Kingsettle Business Park, Station Road, Semley, Shaftesbury.
