POLICE are ramping up patrols across the county this bank holiday weekend as officers work to prevent illegal music events and unlicensed raves.
The force says officers will carry out extra patrols at 11 locations considered vulnerable to unlicensed gatherings, amid concerns about the disruption such events can cause to nearby communities.
Police said they are working closely with landowners, the Ministry of Defence and other partners to tighten security and stop illegal events before they begin.
Unlicensed music events can often lead to complaints about noise, anti-social behaviour, damage to land and disruption for residents.
In a statement, Dorset Police said: “We are aware of the significant impact unlicenced music events can have on our residents and we want to provide reassurance that we’re doing everything possible to prevent any illegal activity this bank holiday weekend.”
Residents are being urged to stay alert and report suspicious activity, particularly in remote or industrial areas.
Police are asking people to call 999 if they spot large groups arriving late at night or early in the morning, convoys of vehicles heading to unusual locations, or increased foot traffic in rural, warehouse or industrial areas.
The force added: “We are working hard to protect our countryside and prevent any impact of anti-social behaviour on local residents.”
Officers said early reporting gives them the best chance to respond quickly and prevent events from becoming established.
The warning comes as warmer weather and long weekends often see attempts to organise illegal outdoor parties across rural parts of the county.
