SUMMARY:Ballet Under the Stars
DESCRIPTION:Ballet Under the Stars at Hatch House\, 24th-26th July 2026\nCovent Garden Dance celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2026\, marking two decades of presenting world-class ballet and dance in some of the most distinctive settings in the UK and internationally. \nEvery summer\, set within the enchanting 17th-century walled Dutch garden at Hatch House\, Ballet Under the Stars takes place. The garden setting is transformed into a fully covered dinner theatre. The performances unfold beneath a canopy of flora where ballet\, live music and fine dining combine to create an atmosphere that feels closer to a continental arts festival than a conventional gala. The audiences will enjoy a programme of twelve short works — spanning classical\, neo-classical and contemporary repertoire — interwoven with a three-course dinner. \nThis year’s performances welcome a truly star-studded international cast in celebration of the company’s 20-year anniversary. Audiences will experience exceptional artistry from Myriam Ould-Braham and Mickaël Lafon of the Paris Opera Ballet\, alongside Joy Womack and Xander Parish representing the Mariinsky Ballet. They are joined by leading artists from the English National Ballet\, including Taela Rose Graff and Zai Calliste\, among many others\, creating an extraordinary evening that brings together some of the finest talent on the international stage.\nTwenty years on\, Covent Garden Dance continues to prove that ballet can thrive far beyond the traditional opera house or theatre and that some of the most memorable performances happen not beneath chandeliers\, but under the summer stars. \nTickets from £185 \nTo book:\nE: production@coventgardendance.com\nT: 01749 813313\nwww.coventgardendance.com

SUMMARY:Burton Bradstock Festival of Music & Art
DESCRIPTION:The 44th Burton Bradstock Festival of Music and Art gets underway from August 15th to August 23rd. It opens with the Art Exhibition showcasing an impressively high standard of works for sale by West Country artists. The range includes framed art work\, greetings cards\, ceramics\, glassware\, and jewellery. The artists themselves assist volunteer stewards\, thereby adding to visitors’ enjoyment. Entry is free. \nThe Music Festival opener on Sunday August 16th is a Tea Party with live music in the Rectory Gardens at 3pm\, followed by Festival Evensong in St Mary’s Church in the heart of this lovely Dorset village. The concert programme starts on Tuesday August 18th with Castaway in the Church at 11.30 am. David Juritz\, the Festival’s Artistic Director\, says that St Mary’s\, with the close proximity of the audience to the stage\, breaks down barriers as well as generating a wonderful sound. David aims to select some less well- known pieces into the Burton programme; this gives a refreshed approach to the classics\, which aren’t neglected either. His goal is to give pleasure and enjoyment. With nine concerts over four days\, there really is something for everyone. He regards his week in West Dorset as the most enjoyable of his year\, and as with the other musicians who join him\, all internationally acclaimed\, keeps mid August open in his diary every year to come down to the Jurassic Coast.\nThere are midday concerts\, one with a picnic platter; an evening with Amelia Coburn and another with Lucy Dixon; a Chamber Concert\, a Gala Concert and more. For full programme details\, and art exhibition opening hours see www.burtonbradstockfestival.com\nTickets are now on sale at the Bridport Tourist Information Centre\, South Street\, Bridport DT6 3LF\, at the counter\, by post\, by phoning 01308 424901\, or online at https://bridportandwestbay.co.uk/tickets/. \nArt Exhibition free entry: Concert tickets from £10-£25

SUMMARY:Tarrant Gunville Horse Show\, Gymkhana and Comic Dog Show
DESCRIPTION:The Tarrant Gunville Horse Show and Gymkhana has presented an enduring tableau of rural England. The Show was started after the war to provide an annual activity for local children. It has been held continuously since then\, in the grounds of Eastbury House by kind permission of the Farquharson family and is unchanged in character and tradition. Proceeds from the Show are donated to local charities. \nThe show has 20 different classes which range from junior classes for children\, up to senior Hunter classes. Uniquely the show has a short\, and built-for-the-day cross-country (Handy Hunter) course which is an ideal introduction to jumping outside the ring. In addition there are Show Jumping classes\, a gymkhana\, a parade of the Portman Hounds\, and early afternoon there is a very popular comic Dog Show. Refreshments and a bar available together with an official photographer and other stall holders. \nWhat3Words: ///spooked.plausible.puts
