Dust off your Santa suit and your running shoes

Details of the 2022 Motcombe Santa Run have been released…

The event, which sees runners of all ages and abilities take on a 3km route, will take place on Sunday 4 December, with most participants donning their Santa suits for the occasion.

“The village of Motcombe really knows how to put on a great show, with the phenomenally successful annual Motcombe Village Fête and the hugely popular Great Motcombe Santa Run attracting hundreds of visitors and raising thousands of pounds for charity,” said a spokesperson for the event.
“The streets and lanes of our beautiful Dorset village will be the stage for runners of all ages, speeds and abilities for a 3km run, jog or walk in a homage to the great man himself.”
Before the start, there will be a ‘fun and energetic’ warm-up with CrossFit Shaftesbury, behind the Motcombe Memorial Hall from 9.30am, before the race gets underway at 10am.
“Buggies and wheelchairs are welcome (although no bikes, scooters or dogs, please) and make sure to bring your support team – there will be mulled wine, mince pies and carols to keep everyone’s Christmas spirits soaring.”

This will be the fourth Great Motcombe Santa Run, aimed at bringing some joy, fun and exercise to the village. “The last event in 2021 raised almost £4,000 for Motcombe Primary School’s PTA, which helped fund the new Spiritual Garden and Forest School, both of which give the Motcombe students and teachers some much-needed space for outdoor learning, relaxation and reflection,” the spokesperson added.
