POLICE have stepped up patrols across Sturminster Newton in a bid to tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB) and drug-related activity in the town.
An officer from the neighbourhood team spent time on foot in the community, targeting known hotspots linked to ASB and crime reports.
During the patrol, several conversations with residents led to new intelligence being gathered – information officers say will help them take further action.
The patrol also resulted in the seizure of a small quantity of Class A drugs during follow-up enquiries into a recent incident.
Officers say work is ongoing to track down a suspect connected to the case.
“They WILL be found, they WILL be arrested, and they WILL be put before the next available Court!!!” the officer said.

The action forms part of a wider effort to address ongoing concerns around ASB, with additional patrols carried out in nearby Marnhull and Stalbridge.
Officers have also been working with housing providers and Dorset Council to deal with problematic residents and find longer-term solutions.
Police are urging the public to continue reporting issues, particularly where there are concerns about repeat anti-social behaviour or drug activity, so that a coordinated, multi-agency response can be put in place.
Despite the enforcement activity, officers say community engagement remains at the heart of their work.
The patrols also included visits to victims to provide updates on cases and reassurance, highlighting the importance of maintaining a visible presence in the town.
Residents are encouraged to report information by calling 101, or 999 in an emergency. Anonymous reports can also be made via Crimestoppers.
Police say continued cooperation from the public will be key to keeping Sturminster Newton a safe place to live.
