PORT Regis School, near Shaftesbury, has been included in this year’s The Schools Index – establishing itself one of the top private schools in the world.
The school was named in the top 10 prep schools in the UK and included in the top 150 private schools across the world, with their “exceptional” facilities praised.
As well as formal criteria, such as academic results and preparation for university entry, schools are selected for the Schools Index for their unique ethos, local and international reputation, and how they prepare pupils for life beyond academia, as well as looking at other areas such as technology and sustainability.
The Schools Index provides a comprehensive overview of curriculum and fees, as well as practical information such as travel times to local airports.
A spokesperson for Carfax Education which runs the Schools Index said: “This school is well and truly back on track and the inspiring new head, Titus Mills is all about the ‘heart’.
“He firmly believes that education should be a great adventure, school should be about joy and learning should inspire awe and wonder.
“Port Regis pupils flourish intellectually, creatively and physically, but at the core the school is instilling character and moral values that set them up for life.
“Long envied by other schools for their exceptional facilities, pupils take full advantage of all that is on offer and regularly win scholarships in music, drama, and art.
“Sports are a significant focus, with Port Regis teams known for their competitive spirit particularly in rugby and cricket.
“Boarding is flexible, from occasional stays to full-time, and offers a warm and supportive environment.”
Titus Mills, headmaster of Port Regis, said: “We are delighted to be included in The Schools Index by Carfax Education as one of the top 150 private schools in the world this year and a Top 10 Prep School.
“Port Regis is steeped in history and yet it remains a community that is, at its core, forward thinking and innovative in its approach to educating young children.
“We are extremely proud of the breadth of opportunity and excellence we offer – not least our exceptional teaching and learning and outstanding pastoral care – and are thrilled to be recognised by Carfax Education once again.”

Some inaccuracies here about the head. Firstly, he is not new at all. He has been there for four years.
