Dorchester teen in life-threatening condition after crash on A35 in Bridport

A TEENAGER is in a “life-threatening” condition after a crash involving a motorbike and a Mercedes in Bridport – with a driver arrested in connection with the incident.

Police are investigating after the crash, which happened at just after midnight this morning (July 7) on the A35 Sea Road South, at the junction with Hollow Way.

Dorset Police said the incident involved a white Mercedes-Benz A200 and a silver Yamaha motorbike.

“The rider of the motorbike – a 17-year-old boy from the Dorchester area – sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment,” a spokesperson said.

“His condition is described as life-threatening and his family has been informed.

“The driver of the car – a man aged in his 30s from West Dorset – has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences. He has been taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are not believed to be serious.”

Police Sergeant Richard Stroud, of the Roads Policing Team, added: “We are carrying out enquiries to establish what happened and I am keen to hear from any witnesses.

“I would also like to speak to anyone who may have been travelling in the area at the relevant time and captured anything on dashcam footage that may assist our investigation.

“Finally, I would like to thank the public while the road closure is in place. I know it is impactive at a busy time of day, but it is absolutely necessary to allow us to carry out a detailed examination of the scene.”
