A TEENAGER who suffered serious injuries in a crash in Bridport has sadly died, police confirmed.
The incident, at around midnight on Tuesday, July 7, involved a white Mercedes-Benz A200 and a silver Yamaha motorbike on the A35 Sea Road South.
The rider of the motorbike – a 17-year-old boy from the Dorchester area – sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
“Sadly he died in hospital on the afternoon of Thursday, July 9. The teenager’s family are aware,” a Dorset Police spokesperson said.
“The driver of the car involved in the condition – a man aged in his 30s from West Dorset – was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and subsequently taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that were not believed to be serious. He has now been released under investigation as enquiries continue.”
Sergeant Mike Burt, of the Serious Collision Investigation Team, added: “Our thoughts are very much with the family and loved ones of the boy who sadly died following this collision.
“We owe it to the family to conduct a thorough investigation into the full circumstances of what happened and I would urge any witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to please come forward if you have not already spoken to police.”
