GET ready for the battle of the oven… And the microwave, and your watch… Yes, this weekend sees the clocks go back and the inevitable technological treat of trying to work out how to change myriad timepieces around the house.
The time officially changes at 2am on Sunday morning (October 26), with most people choosing to turn their clocks back before bed on Saturday night (if you head up the wooden hill before midnight, otherwise, it’s already Sunday).
Changing the clocks in spring and autumn dates back more than a century, to Germany, when in 1916 the country aimed to utilise daylight for the war effort.
A few weeks later, Britain followed, and British Summer Time was born.
The debate over whether we need to change the clocks goes on, but for now, 2am on Sunday it is.
