Cyclist in his 50s passes away after Dorchester crash

A CYCLIST injured in a Dorchester crash on Friday (May 16) has sadly passed away.

Police said the man was seriously injured in the incident, at around 7.35am, in Bridport Road.

The crash involved a white Fiat Panda and a bicycle, a Dorset Police spokesperson said, and the cyclist – a man aged in his 50s – was taken to Southampton Hospital in a serious condition.

“Very sadly, he died in hospital on the evening of Saturday, May 17. His family has been informed,” the spokesperson added.

Police Sergeant Dave Cotterill, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “Our thoughts are very much with the family and loved ones of the man who sadly died following this collision.

“We owe it to them to conduct a thorough investigation to establish the full circumstances of this incident and I would urge any witnesses, or anyone with relevant dashcam footage, who has not already spoken to police to please make contact with us.”
