Crews battle fire that spread from wood store to house

CREWS battled to save a house after a fire spread from a wood store.

The incident happened at around 2pm on Monday (May 22) at a property in Piddletrenthide.

Initially, firefighters from Dorchester and Sturminster Newton were called to the scene, but soon requested the assistance of an additional two pumps and a water carrier, due to ‘very limited’ water sources in the area.

Additional appliances attended from Bridport and Sherborne, with a water carrier coming from Yeovil.

Crews used six breathing apparatus, multiple hosereel jets, small tools and ladders to extinguish the fire.
