Creativity shines through in D-Day 80 window competition 

MAYOR of Blandford Forum Councillor Nocturin Lacey-Clarke delivered certificates yesterday (June 14) to the various winners of the town’s D-Day 80 window competition. 

The competition allowed businesses throughout the town to get creative and decorate their windows to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day. 

In total, 23 premises decorated their windows for the occasion. 

The council said: “Congratulations to Morrisons who came first in the competition. The judges appreciated the huge amount of effort made to create the visual display.

“In second place were Sweetpea Florist. The judges commented that the display was simple yet elegant and a highly effective, thought-provoking display. 

“Third place went to Florabunda Florist. The judges appreciated the amount of effort put into the display and the use of various materials to create the display. 

“Due to the high quality of so many windows, the judges felt that, in addition to the three winning certificates, they also wanted to commend some other shops.  

“DW Vapes were highly commended. The judges commented that it was a very impressive display with the Omaha artefact.

“Conyers Home and Country were commended. The judges found the display eye-catching, using interesting items. 

“Ragtags were commended. The judges felt it was a good display, incorporating interesting items.

“And finally, The Beauty Workshop was commended. The judges commented that it was an eye-catching display, particularly engaging young people.

“We would also like to mention Blandford Scout Group who did a great job of decorating the boat outside the Scout hut for D Day.
