A SOMERSET school has been added to a list of those affected by potentially dangerous Raac (reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete).

An updated list of schools identified as containing the material has been released by the Department for Education (DfE) includes Selworthy Special School, in Taunton.

The 27 additions to the list come after an initial breakdown from the DfE identified 147 schools facing the problem.

Now, the total has risen to 174.

The DfE update said 23 schools will be carrying out some remote learning due to the concrete, while one will be switching to fully-remote classes.

Other south west schools on the updated list include Colyton Grammar School, in Colyford, East Devon, and Farnborough College of Technology, in Hampshire.

Petroc in North Devon was named among those with Raac in the original list.

Previously, both Dorset and Somerset Councils confirmed no schools under their remit had identified Raac.
