Community Kitchen donation

After hearing about the work of Sherborne’s Community Kitchen, residents and staff at Barchester’s Trinity Manor care home in the town decided to raise some money for the good cause.

Their pop-up Christmas Fayre, which was held in their car-park, raised £123 for the food charity’s funds.

The Community Kitchen is completely non-profit and started life during the height of the pandemic, when many vulnerable people were at home isolating. A small group of volunteers cooked a dozen healthy, balanced meals and sent them into the community.
That service has ceased but the Community Kitchen has continued, becoming a charity offering a takeaway service, as well as sit down meals for a small fee every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, at the Raleigh Hall in Sherborne. Doors open at 11.30am with the sit-down meal being served an hour later.

Deputy Manager at Trinity Manor, Paul Pippard, said residents were glad to have seen how the Community Kitchen was run, when they visited to hand over their funds. “Our residents and staff love that we have been able to provide a little bit of support to keep it going and we hope to do more fundraising for them in future,” he said.
