Classic motorbikes found in a garage valued at £80,000

IT’S the classic list of contents in a garage: Garden tools, dusty photo albums, an open bag of cement, £80,000-worth of classic motorcycles…

That was the discovery at a double garage in Southampton – with the vintage vehicles set to go under the hammer in Somerset next month.

The collection of classic motorbikes – estimated at between £50,000 and 80,000 – will feature in the Charterhouse auction of classic motorcycles on March 7 at the Haynes Motor Museum, in Sparkford.

“The owner had sadly passed away recently,” said auctioneer, Richard Bromell. “We were instructed by the executors to firstly value the collection and then arrange for their sale.”

There are more than 15 bikes in the Charterhouse auction from Southampton, and most are partially dismantled.

Stars of the collection include a rare MV Agusta 750GT (£15,000 to £20,000) and a Vincent Comet (£6,000 to £8,000).

Charterhouse are now accepting further entries for this auction, as well as for a classic cars sale on March 27 and their specialist auction of automobilia on April 3.
