Chimney fire prompts Christmas Day callout to Vale village

CHRISTMAS dinner was interrupted for one household in a Vale village after a chimney fire.

Firefighters from Sturminster Newton attended the incident, in Child Okeford, at around 2pm on Christmas Day.

The crew used a chimney kit to extinguish the blaze, a Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said, and checked the property externally using a roof ladder.
