CCTV appeal after fire started in suspected arson attack at Dorset police station

OFFICERS want to trace this person after a suspected arson at Sherborne police station.

The incident, which involved a fire being started outside the boiler room of the Digby Road station, happened at around 3.30am on Saturday (April 25).

A Dorset Police spokesperson said the “small fire” did not spread to the station building and no one was injured, though the cause is “currently believed to be deliberate”.

Detective Inspector Rich Barnett, of Dorset County CID, said: “An investigation has been launched into this incident and I am appealing for anyone with information that might assist our enquiries to please contact us.

“I am also issuing images of a man I would like to identify and I am keen to hear from anyone with information relating to his identity. I appreciate these images are not the best quality, but I am hopeful someone may still recognise the individual.”

Anyone who recognises the person pictured, or has information regarding the incident, should contact Dorset Police on 101, reference 55260060679, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
