Care home team honoured at prestige award ceremony

Staff at a Castle Cary residential home are celebrating after winning a prestigious care award.

Avon Care Homes owner and managing director Cristina Bila led home manager Sally Walford and the team at South Cary House residential home to victory in the end of life and palliative care category at the South West Great British Care Awards at Ashton Gate stadium in Bristol.

Along with entertainment for the care workers, there was a congratulatory message from the Care Minister Helen Whately. The Great British Care Awards are a series of regional events throughout the UK celebrating excellence across the care sector.

Their purpose is to pay tribute to those who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field. The South Cary House team were up for nomination in three categories.

Mrs Bila said: “This is such exciting news for us and I am thrilled with such a great achievement for our prestigious team at South Cary House.”

The team now go forward to the national awards in Birmingham in September.
