Blandford Farmers’ and Makers’ Market will NOT run in future

A MONTHLY market in Blandford will no longer take place, organisers have said.

The Blandford Forum Farmers’ & Makers’ Market was held each month in the Market Place, offering “a diverse of products and crafts”.

However, in a social media post, it was announced the event would no longer be running.

“It’s with much sadness that the Blandford Forum Farmers and Makers Market will no longer be continuing,” it said.

“Thank you to everyone – customers and locals for visiting, local businesses for supporting us, Blandford Forum Town Council for the use of the Market Place, the super-friendly caretakers for placing out the cones and displaying our banner, Dorset Food and Drink for their vision and help with the inaugural “welcome back” market, and anyone else who has shown the love for our lovely collection of fabulous stallholders throughout our time.”

Residents responded with dismay at the news.

One wrote: “What the hell is wrong with Blandford that all these good things stop?

“We have some good eating places, but otherwise there is nowhere to buy anything of any quality.

“Just spent a day in Sherborne and the difference is unbelievable, although I don’t think Sherborne is much bigger than Blandford nowadays.”

Another said: “This is heartbreaking. A market town is fundamentally what Blandford has always been. Just really sad.”

I used to go every time and buy something but the stalls were always very expensive and not the best quality!

No the Farmers market certainly wasn’t tat. What is tact is the usual market with all its old DVDs, cheap gloves and general rubbish.
