Big Brother: Wincanton butcher Tom Bryant warns he might offend housemates

A WINCANTON butcher has found Big Brother – and the town where he works – is watching, as he settles in the TV house.

Tom Bryant, who is a butcher at Andrew Barclay & Sons in Wincanton High Street, is among the housemates in the new series of the reality show, on ITV.

He entered the house on Sunday, October 8, when the revamped series got underway, and is being backed to the hilt by friends, family and colleagues.

The butcher he works at even launched a special steak in his honour – The Tom-a-Hawk Steak – over the weekend of October 13 and 14 to mark the occasion.

“That’s right, our Thomas has entered the Big Brother house,” they said. “All the best Tom. Good luck.”

Before making his way through the doors of the famous TV house, Tom said he was looking forward to taking part.

“It’s just a bit of fun really, isn’t it? Something a bit different from day to day life,” said Tom, who lives in Limington.

He said he was looking forward to just chatting with other housemates, and admitted he thought he was “quite funny”, and that his friends would say he was “quite loud and chatty”.

“I like to think I’m quite funny but I don’t know if they agree,” he went on. “I think I might potentially offend some people. My mouth moves faster than my brain.”

Tom is one of 16 housemates who were unveiled for the latest series of Big Brother, the first since 2018, when it was dropped by Channel 5.

It is set to run for 42 days, with contestants being evicted at various points, including after a public vote.

Should he make it through and be crowned the winner of Big Brother, Tom stands to pick up a £100,000 prize.

And he said he already had a few ideas for purchases should he collect the cheque.

“There’s a good couple of cars I want to buy,” he said. “I’d probably put a good bit of it into savings for a house, and then probably spunk a trip to Ibiza or somewhere.”

* Big Brother runs each night between Sunday and Friday at 9pm, on ITV2 and ITVX. The live stream from the house runs on ITVX seven nights a week. The main show is followed by Big Brother: Late & Live on ITV2.
