A memorial bench has been installed in Mere paying tribute to John Hancock, who was the town’s policeman for decades.
John lived and worked with Mere residents when the area still had a police house combined with a police station.
He was part of the Mere community being involved in many events. He died last year, and people lined the streets to clap the hearse. John won the police volunteer of the year award from Wiltshire Police.
