Barrington Court to host international photography competition for the National Trust

A new competition for garden photographers has been launched to celebrate the beauty of the National Trust’s Barrington Court.
The house and estate near Yeovil will be hosting the International Garden Photographer of the Year (IGPOTY) exhibition in September and there will be a special category featuring images of Barrington.

The Trust says that the type of photo that will catch the judges’ eye will capture the former tenant, Colonel Lyle’s passion for exemplary craftsmanship and detailed design, whether in the garden, the architecture or wider landscape. Images of the wildlife that make Barrington Court its home will also be welcome.
Senior Visitor Experience Officer at Barrington Court, Alex Learmont, said: “We hope ‘The Beauty of Barrington Court’ is a broad brief for anyone thinking of entering, but we would especially love to see people reflect architecture and craftmanship within the garden and the wildlife that lives here – to echo the story of Colonel Lyle’s restoration.”

As well as having their work included as part of the exhibition at Barrington Court, the first, second and third place winners will receive prizes including a private tour, afternoon tea and signed certificates.
You have until noon on
1 August 2022 to submit your photos via the IGPOTY website. Full terms and conditions (including image requirements) and IGPOTY competition rules can be found on the competition website www.igpoty.com.
