Man arrested after fight – and car crash – in Bridport, say police

A MAN was arrested after a fight involving a ‘large group of young people’ outside a Bridport bar – and a car crash in the town.

At around 1.50am on Friday, September 29, Dorset Police were called to an altercation outside a bar in East Street.

“It is reported that two of the men who were part of the group left the scene in a light blue BMW,” a police spokesperson said.

“Later that evening, at approximately 2.30am, a 24-year-old man from Dorchester was arrested on suspicion of theft of a vehicle and traffic offences after the same vehicle was found crashed into a wall in West Street.

“He has been released on police bail as officers continue their enquiries.”

PC Jack White said: “We have been carrying out enquiries into this vehicle theft and we are appealing to members of the public for further information and assistance.

“I would also like to ask anyone who was driving in the Bridport area around the time of the incidents to please check any dashcam footage they may have stored to see if they have captured anything of relevance.”
