THE A303 between the Sparkford and Podimore roundabouts will closed on Friday night into Saturday morning.
At 9pm on Friday night (August 9), the route will shut subject to weather conditions, with a diversion in place.
It will re-open to traffic at 6am on Saturday morning (August 10), National Highways said.
It comes as work on a multi-million pound project to dual the busy stretch continues.
What diversions will be in place during the A303 closure?
- Westbound diversion: Leave the A303 at the Wincanton junction and join the A371. Continue to Galhampton to join the A359 to Sparkford. Continue on the A359 to Yeovil, where you join the A37 to Ilchester before rejoining the A303.
- Eastbound diversion: leave the A303 at the Ilchester junction and follow the A37 to Yeovil. Join the A359 to Sparkford, and get back onto the A303 east of Sparkford Roundabout.

“During this closure, we’ll ensure that access will remain for residents with direct access onto the A303,” a National Highways spokesperson said.
“This work is subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress.
“If we’re unable to complete our work on the date above, we’ll let you know an alternative date as soon as possible.”
Recently, new aerial footage of the project was released, showing progress on the dualling scheme.
