A NEW community-led organisation is inviting residents to celebrate the future of Gillingham at a free family event next month.

Gillingham Rising, a newly formed Community Interest Company, will officially launch with a day of entertainment at the Town Meadow on Saturday, July 11 from 10am to 4pm.

The event will introduce the group’s vision of creating a vibrant, resilient and attractive town centre while bringing together businesses, organisations and residents.

Families can enjoy a range of free activities, including face painting, a bouncy castle and the chance to meet animals from Madjeston Farm.

There will also be local traders, makers, community stalls, street food and coffee throughout the day.

Organisers hope the event will not only showcase what the town has to offer but also encourage people to get involved in shaping the town’s future.

A spokesperson for Gillingham Rising said: “This event is about celebrating our community and supporting our local high street.

“We want people to come along, have fun with family and friends, discover fantastic local businesses and groups, and find out more about how Gillingham Rising is working to help our town thrive.”

The event is free to attend and open to people of all ages.
