DORSET Council will mark Armed Forces Day with a special ceremony at County Hall in Dorchester on Monday, June 22.
The event, beginning at 10am at the war memorial outside County Hall, will be led by the chair of Dorset Council, Cllr Stella Jones MBE, and attended by military personnel, veterans, armed forces associations and local dignitaries.
During the ceremony, the Armed Forces Day flag will be raised as a sign of respect for serving personnel, veterans and the wider armed forces community.
Speeches will be given by Cllr Stella Jones and His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant, followed by representatives of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, British Army, The Rifles and the Royal Air Force. Members of the public are invited to attend.
Cllr Jones said: “Our Armed Forces remain fundamental to our nation’s security. They protect our way of life, support communities at home and abroad, and respond with professionalism and humanity in times of crisis.
“As we raise the Armed Forces Day flag, we pause to remember all those who have served, and those who continue to serve. Their courage, resilience and sense of duty are an inspiration to us all.”
Although Dorset Council’s ceremony takes place earlier in the week, the national Armed Forces Day 2026 will be celebrated on Saturday, June 27.
