A MAN from Ludwell has been jailed after suffocating his partner with a pillow in an attack that left her traumatised and struggling to rebuild her life.
Timothy Bossard, 42, was sentenced to 21 months in prison at Winchester Crown Court on June 11 after being found guilty of intentional suffocation.
The attack happened towards the end of 2025 while Bossard and the victim were in a relationship.
During the incident, he held a pillow over her face until she struggled to breathe.
The victim reported the assault to police in December, triggering an investigation that ultimately led to Bossard’s conviction.
As well as the prison sentence, the court imposed a two-year restraining order preventing Bossard from contacting the victim or going to her address.
In a powerful victim impact statement read to the court, the woman described the devastating emotional toll of the abuse.
“I am now fully engaged in therapy and hope that, over time, I will be able to heal,” she said.
“However, at present, I feel that I have lost my sense of who I am. I have gone from being someone who supports others and helps them with their lives, to being someone who now needs help themselves.
“This change has been deeply painful and disorientating. His actions have caused lasting and life-changing damage that I continue to live with every day.”
Local Crime Investigator Catherine Barrett said: “Bossard’s actions left his victim living in constant fear of what he might do next.
“We take reports of this type of behaviour extremely seriously. It has a devastating and lasting impact on victims and their families.”
She praised the victim’s bravery in supporting the case, adding: “Her strength has ensured that Bossard can no longer pose a threat to her.”
Wiltshire Police said it remains committed to pursuing offenders and protecting victims of domestic abuse.
