Police release CCTV after bold £200 shop theft

POLICE have released CCTV images of a woman they want to trace following the theft of around £200 worth of food from a shop in Shaftesbury.

The incident happened at Morrisons Daily in Bell Street on the afternoon of Thursday, April 9, but officers said enquiries are ongoing as they continue efforts to identify the person involved.

According to police, a woman entered the store at around 2.10pm and allegedly left without paying for a large quantity of food items.

Now, investigators are appealing to the public for help, releasing CCTV images of a woman they believe may be able to assist with enquiries.

PC Robert Roaf, of Dorset Police, said: “We are continuing to investigate this theft and are now in a position to issue CCTV images of a woman we would like to identify as part of our enquiries.

“I would urge anyone with information relating to her identity to please contact us.”

The appeal comes as retailers continue to report concerns over shoplifting with thefts placing added pressure on businesses already facing rising costs.

Officers are asking anyone who recognises the woman pictured, or who may have information about the incident, to come forward.
