A MAN has been arrested following a suspected arson attack at a police station in Sherborne.

Emergency services were alerted at around 3.30am on Sunday, April 26, after a small fire broke out outside the boiler room at Sherborne Police Station.

The fire was quickly contained and did not spread to the main building. No injuries were reported.

Following enquiries, officers have arrested a 36-year-old man on suspicion of arson. He remains in police custody while investigations continue.

Police have thanked members of the public for their help in sharing appeals linked to the incident, which they say assisted their enquiries.

The circumstances surrounding the fire are still being investigated.
