Police appeal after 5-year-old girl bitten by dog

POLICE in Dorchester are appealing for information after a five-year-old girl was bitten by a dog.

Shortly before 10am on Sunday, December 14, 2025, the child was with her mum in Pope Street when she was bitten on the leg by a dog, described as a medium-sized short-haired black and white dog.

The incident left the girl with a bite mark and bruising to her leg.

The owner of the dog is described as a white man aged around 60 years old.

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information regarding the dog involved and its owner.

A spokesperson said: “We would also urge the dog owner involved to please do the right thing and make contact with us so we can take your account of what happened.”
