WINCANTON will welcome a new cinema in February, it has been confirmed.
The new venue, at an Art Deco building in South Street which was formerly home to a church and a bingo hall, will welcome movie goers from February 13, according to operator S&B Cinemas.
The firm – which also runs cinemas in Frome, Burnham and Minehead – starting renovating the Wincanton venue in May last year, and had initially hoped to be open before the end of 2025.
However, the new opening date has been confirmed by owner, Pat Scott, initially with two screens operating.
“I believe we’ve got it right,” he said. “The theatres that are doing well are the ones that look after the customer – and that is what we do.”
The project is being overseen by builder John and architect Phil, as well as Pat’s wife, Beryl, and their faithful dog Janie.
