Firework spectacular to light up skies of Dorset village

THE night sky over Sixpenny Handley will once again be filled with a eye-catching firework display and world-class pyrotechnics as the annual Firework Spectacular returns to the village.

The display has been a mainstay in the village calendar with it taking place each year for the past 23 years.

Organised by 1st Woodcutts Scouts, the evening combines delicious local food and drinks, traditional fete games and two breath-taking pyrotechnic displays.

This year’s display will take place on November 1, with a quitter display for younger children starting at 6.30 and the main display, complete with new and exciting effects, will commence at 7.30pm.

For those wishing to enjoy food and drink before the display starts, the arena is open from 5.30pm.

The ticket is for the whole evening, so attendees get to enjoy two displays for the price of one elsewhere.

Rob Easton, Scout Leader at 1st Woodcutts and part of the Firework Spectacular team, said: “The evening is run by volunteers and the culmination of a whole year of planning.

We are so lucky to have an amazing group of volunteers with such a broad range of skills. It means we can put on a fantastic evening that has now grown to be the biggest and best in the area.”

Tickets for the Firework Spectacular can be purchased in advance from Clarke the Butchers and Budgens in Sixpenny Handley and from the Village Store in Chettle.

Entrance can also be paid on the gate.
