Diana biographer Andrew Morton set for Sherborne talk

ANDREW Morton – who became a staple of newspaper front pages in the early 1990s after writing a controversial book about Princess Diana – is giving a talk in Sherborne next month.

On October 6, the writer will visit the Sherborne Literary Society to discuss his new book, Winston and the Windsors.

The book details how Sir Winston Churchill helped shape the modern monarchy during the 20th century – including through two world wars.

Morton is famed for his biographies, which as well as Diana, include writings on Tom Cruise, Madonna, Angelina Jolie and Monica Lewinsky.

He was also commissioned to write a detailed biography of Prince William around the time he wed Catherine Middleton, and wrote about Meghan Markle before her marriage to Prince Harry.

His biography of Queen Elizabeth II was published in 2022, two months after her death.

Morton will be at the Cheap Street Church from 7pm on October 6, with tickets available online via www.sherborneliterarysociety.com, or from Winstone’s bookshop in Cheap Street, Sherborne.

Tickets are £10 for Sherborne Literary Society members or £12 for non-members. Doors open at 6.30pm and the talk starts at 7pm.
