A CLASSIC 1960s Morris Minor is set to go under the hammer in March – after spending decades in a stables.

The 1966 car will be looking for a new home when it is sold at the Charterhouse sale of classic and vintage cars, in Sherborne, on March 27.

“I am more used to seeing cars stored in barns, sheds and garages so to find the Moggy resting in a stable makes a change,” said Charterhouse auctioneer, Richard Bromell.

Family-owned since 1978, the Morris Minor saloon previously drove around the quiet roads and lanes of Guernsey.

However, despite years in the stables and being covered in a thick layer of dust, Richard said it is “remarkably solid underneath”.

It is being sold without reserve as the family are moving house.

Charterhouse are accepting further entries for their auctions of classic and vintage cars on March 27, as well as for their specialist auction of Automobilia on April 3.
