POLICE investigating a reported robbery in Blandford Forum have made further arrests following an incident that also saw police vehicles damaged.
The incident unfolded at around 2.30pm on Monday, April 13, when a man in his 30s was reportedly approached by three men in Church Lane – one of whom was known to him – and assaulted.
It was later reported that his phone and wallet had been stolen.
Officers launched an investigation and carried out a series of enquiries in the area, including searches around Windmill Road.
During those searches, two police vehicles had their windows smashed, adding to the seriousness of the incident.
Two men – aged 52 and 18 – were initially arrested on suspicion of robbery. The 18-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of possessing Class B drugs with intent to supply. Both were later released on police bail.
Now, officers have confirmed that a further 18-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and also released on police bail as enquiries continue.
In addition, a 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage in connection with the damaged police vehicles. He has also been released on bail.
The latest developments come after police activity in the area was previously reported, with a heightened presence as officers carried out searches and gathered evidence.
Officers have since increased patrols in Blandford, with visible policing in place to reassure residents and gather further information.
