11-day closure of A37 near Shepton Mallet planned for resurfacing work

A MAIN route into Shepton Mallet will be closed as essential resurfacing work is carried out.

A section of the A37, from Cannard’s Grave roundabout to Whitstone corner, will be closed between 6.30pm and 11.30pm from Monday, February 12 to Friday, February 23.

A diversion will be in place while the road is closed.

Councillor Richard Wilkins, Somerset Council’s lead member for transport and digital, said: “The road here is showing signs of wear and tear, and this is an essential part of our programme maintenance schedule.

“In order to minimise disruption this will be done out of peak hours during the evening.

“We appreciate this will have an impact on local traffic and we would advise people to plan ahead if they use this route regularly. If possible, the team will do everything they can to complete this scheme ahead of schedule.”
